Still some Christmas knitting to do

The last days and weeks have been crazy. I am happy to say that I have passed the insurance knowledge and practice exam at my company - and just got the best marks in all fields. Yay! I am so much looking forward to the Christmas holidays. Free time - and therefore knitting time - is very valuable to me right now.

I have already finished those Christmas presents:

The two hats are, well, hats, obviously, but the black things are leg warmers which arised out of a really screwed Mariah - sweater. I liked the cables on the sleeves so much that I turned them into leg warmers - and pretty ones, I think!

And, may I present you "the first sweater" - it actually is not the first sweater I ever knit, but one of them. At this point, it is about 10 years old and I knit it without a pattern (!!) and without knowing anything about designing, gauge or stuff like that. I made it up as I went, and although the colors are bright and cheerful, I did not know that I hate scratchy mohair back then. The armholes don't fit well, the neck is big, but nevertheless I like the whole thing.

This is the progress of the Verena sweater. I redesigned the pattern to be knit in the round - this knit is not as fast as I would have expected. I want to cast on sooo many other things, but I am trying to be strong and ... ooops, there are still some gloves missing as a Christmas present for my brother.

Congrats on passing your exam! I also am looking forward to some time off for Christmas. At this point, I'm hoping my last day in the office this year is Monday. I hope there aren't any last minute emergencies that interfere with this plan, as I really need some knitting time!!

Wo-how! For a sweater that you knit without a pattern, this one rocks big time! I would still never manage to knit one without the help of a pattern, so I'm definitely impressed - and I love the colors!
My first sweaters (eons ago, gosh, I'm so old... ;) were done with mohair yarn as well - and of course they were hardly ever worn due to the neverending scratching and itching. A shame really - but then again, those were the 80s back then, so it's probably for the best that I didn't wear them ;)
Btw, congratulations on doing so well in the exams - that's fantastic indeed!
